Sharps,
It wasn’t much of a Monday night game so hopefully you got a good night’s rest.
What a week it was! 26 members went a perfect 7-0. Congrats to weekly winner Cody Turk, a West Coast sharp who got off the mat after a slow start. There are now only 2 members at the top of the standings (Frank BROOKS, and “brother” Chris Petteruti) but there are 30 members who are within 3 points, and lots of football left to play.
One of the more bewildering tendencies of the NFL media is how drastically the tune changes week over week. Lose one week, everything is terrible and you need to rethink your life (or draft) choices. Win the next week, everything is better and you can see the path to success so clearly. Sharps never get too high or too low, and apply a long-term lens to short-term decisions. Go and do likewise.
We’ll be back on Friday with your full Sunday matchups. Until then, enjoy the baseball playoffs.
TNF Preview
Chicago at Washington
Justin Fields had the rebound game fans were hoping for, throwing for over 300 yards for the first time in his career, and yet the Bears still lost. After leading 21-7 and looking like they were gonna find their first win of the season, the Bears proceeded to give up 24 unanswered points. They are now the first team in NFL history to give up at least 25 points in four games in a row. They now have lost 14 consecutive games. Hard to imagine what it's like to be in that locker room these days.
The Commanders have certainly fared better than the Bears, though the same can be said about every other team in the league. If Riverboat Ron decided to play for the win instead of going to OT against the Eagles, we’d be talking about how this is the surprise team of the year. But instead we are asking questions about whether this is a team that should try to win now or rebuild. Who should be the head coach? Is Sam Howell the quarterback of the future? Is rookie CB Emmanuel Forbes a bust? It’s only been 4 weeks, but stars shine sooner than this.
Sharps, you can't put it by SJ when he's this dialed in; he's 1-0 on free takes having gone with the Bills last week. I thought I was going to score an easy win on him, but Josh Allen accounting for 5 TDs was something I had not seen coming. Tune in for his free pick of the week, and press him on why he chose the side.
